LA DOLCE VITA
A TROPEA
in my Brand, Retail, and Spatial Activations course at FIT, i was tasked to design a retail space integrated within a hospitality environment. the space didn’t have to carry a specific brand, nor did it have to be in tangent with the environment of our choosing, but we needed to learn how to design to spec, and to design within a space already given to us instead of imagining it on our own.
La Dolce Vita a Tropea is a recently renovated bed and breakfast where guests can make the most of the centre of Tropea. This 4-star bed and breakfast offers an incredible view of the little island of the Sanctuary of Santa Maria dell’Isola, room availability inside the Palazzo Barone di Tropea, an ancient patrician dwelling built on the edge of the coastline, and is surrounded by historic luxury, artisan shops and the typical Italian network of narrow streets which open onto magnificent little beaches facing the sea.
the project required me to do research on the brand, brand’s target audience, gather inspiration, decide on featured products, a graphic palette, a materials palette, a floor plan with callouts, elevations of the space, mockups of products, and come up with a selling point to put on the outside of the store to entice visitors.
i utilized Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Sketchup and Twinmotion to create this project.
